“Our son now reads at grade level and has more confidence.”

Dena was warm, engaging and helped our son learn the foundations of reading. She built trust. She made reading accessible. Plus she utilized games and multi-sensory techniques to make learning fun.

We are so thankful to Dena for helping our son feel proud of his hard work and for all of the gains in his reading skills.

— Parent of a 5th grader

I’d rather tell stories as a comic or watch them unfold in a movie, even though I have a Masters in Reading.

A young boy with curly hair wearing a navy blue polo shirt and white sneakers sitting on a beige plush armchair, happily reading a book titled 'The Second Grade Mystery' in a cozy home library. In the background, dark wood bookshelves filled with toys, stuffed animals, and books are visible, along with a globe on the shelf. There is a window with natural light, a small stack of books on a concrete side table, and a textured rug on wood flooring.

So I get it when students tell me they hate reading.

Which makes for great rapport.

Kids can spot a fake from across the room. And they won't work for one.

So when frustration inevitably rears its pretty head, I empathize. And figure out how to make it as interesting as possible for them.

Humor, empathy and psychology go a long way.

Together, we build confidence. Then, we pair rigorous reading instruction with a trust-based relationship, creativity, and fun.

In the end, they walk away with a new story. And reading skills beyond their dreams.
